This morning, my husband went out to cut down some leaning trees. As the trees came down, out spurted these baby bunnies! No mama… What to do?!? Can’t leave them there- the mama may never find them. Don’t know where the den is, can’t put them back in there… even if we did, our scent would be on them and the mama may deny them in result… THE DILEMA!!!
So, with the soft and loving hearts that we both have for the sweet animals, we took all 3 in. I ran to town to get formula, and my hubby made a wonderful shelter- catproof (the best we can) mind you- with grass and clover turf, bark mulch, a small den made of twigs and his fur hat with a warm waterbottle inside for them to snuggle up against. The kicker- it fits perfectly behind our icebox!
Two of the three were not denying the formula, but not accepting or asking for it either. The third and largest flat out would not take it. We’ll see if they will make it.
The assumption is that they are 3-4 weeks old, and if they do make it, well then we’re in the bunny business, baby! YeeHaw!
Tune in next week for more of: Baby Bunnies Chronicles!
